Solar Heat for Low-Income Families

RREAL's Solar Assistance program offers Solar Air Heating systems to families who qualify for fuel assistance in North Central Minnesota. These systems are provided at no cost to the recipient.

The State of Minnesota spends millions of dollars annually on Energy Assistance, a program which assists families who cannot pay their winter heating bills. While Energy Assistance is a critical program, it doesn’t provide a long-term solution to the persistent problem of Fuel Poverty.

Solar Assistance systems are installed at no cost to the families and contribute from 10 to 30 percent of the families’ heating load, thereby reducing or eliminating the need for government fuel assistance… for decades.
